Terms of service

Our promise to our students:
To offer EXCELLENCE in acting training through creative and challenging classes, private coaching, mentoring, workshops, and intensives. To be a home-base for creative exploration and professional mentorship.

Please acknowledge that you understand and agree to our studio policies…

ASoOC Policies and Etiquette:
1. Personal Conduct – Students must demonstrate respect for others, the equipment and Studio at all times. Absolutely no cell phone use, texting, emailing or websurfing during class. Always bring paper and pen or pencil. Note taking on ipads is permissible, but the sound must be muted on the keyboard and it must be in airplane mode.
2. Commitment – Students must show commitment (regular practice habits, attendance, punctuality) to their classes.
Guardians are responsible for encouraging and ensuring that all of these happen. If you are running late or must miss a class, please contact the instructor and any scene partner in advance of class.
3. Dress Code - No unsecured facial jewelry or body jewelry will be worn in class. Please pin hair so that the face is not obstructed.
No flip-flops, platform shoes or super high heels will be worn during class. We recommend wearing pants. Wear leggings or shorts under dresses or skirts to allow for movement and floor work.
4. Security Permission – The student or guardian gives permission for the student to participate in Actors Studio of Orange County
programming and gives Actors Studio of Orange County permission to act on their behalf should the student require emergency medical attention while participating in a program activity and neither the guardian nor emergency contact can be reached.
5. This registration form must be received and signed by the first class; if not, the student is not allowed to participate and no refund, make-up or transfer will be granted.
6. Right to Refuse Service – Positive attitude, professionalism, respect and understanding of our policies is incredibly important for ensuring a creative learning environment. For this reason, the studio reserves the right to remove any student from class, temporarily or permanently, without refund, due to a poor or disrespectful attitude toward teachers, staff, policies or fellow students.

Attendance & Punctuality:
1. We require 100% attendance to all classes. To incentivize perfect attendance, all students who attend all classes will be entered into a raffle, from which one student will receive a private 60 minute coaching with ASoOC Owner, Sonya Cooke.
2. In the event that a student must miss a class, an absence may be counted as excused for medical emergencies with a doctor’s note or for industry related work (background work and auditions not included.) For an absence to be excused, the instructor must be notified before the beginning of class. If an absence does not fit these guidelines, it is marked unexcused and cannot be made up. No exceptions allowed. Being ill does not count as an excused absence unless there is some form of doctor's note.
3. If an absence qualifies as excused, students may make up the class by attending another class other than the one the student regularly attends. So, if a student is in the Tuesday class, he can make up the excused absence by attending Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday. Make-ups are valid for three months. The student must submit the information to qualify for a make-up, and from there the student must schedule with the school when he or she would like to attend another class. Absences will not be made up by rolling over enrollment to subsequent months. Nor is any tuition refunded due to absences of any sort.
4. If a student is planning a trip and would like to skip a week or two during his/her training, the ASoOC office must be notified before the first class.
5. Tardiness is unprofessional and disrespectful. Please come ready to work at the beginning of class. In the event that a student must be late, text or call the instructor and scene partner. Sonya's cell is 949-307-1404.
6. Attendance in the Advanced and Intermediate Class is even more crucial due to the dependency of the students on everyone's participation. If a student in one of these classes has more than one unexcused absence, he or she is subject to removal from the class. He or she is welcome at that point to return to one of the Beginning Acting Classes till a schedule can be firmly kept.
