In this summer course, students will immerse in the historical work of Anton Chekhov. Modern acting, as we know it, was first explored through the works of Chekhov, directed by the "Father of Modern Drama," Stanislavski. In other words, we wouldn't be where we are today without this seminal playwright. Students in Intermediate will gain exposure to these critical roles and stories in the canon of theatre; most of these plays have all been adapted to film. Through this study, actors will gain greater understanding of subtext, the reality of doing, and relationship.
This is a scene study course; by audition only. Students aiming to join the Advanced class are required to complete at least 3 sessions of the Intermediate level. Those Intermediate students who are in good standing can enroll. Please read handbook for more terms. Those wishing to join the intermediate class must have completed Scene Study for Beginners, or the equivalence of both Beginning Acting classes and 2 sections of Beginning Acting on Film.
To audition, submit a dramatic monologue by self-tape by June 10th to philiporazioteacher@gmail.com.
Contact Philip to learn more about the audition process.
Seven Pillars Acting by Sonya Cooke is required of all students taking this course. Purchase the book online.
