Having a reel is now an acting necessity! The industry wants to see what you are made of before they call you in for an audition. For those who don’t know, a reel is a short compilation of your filmed acting work, even if it’s just one scene! At the Actor’s Studio of Orange County, we produce reels for actors that demonstrate the BEST of their acting, because we focus on preparing the actors for the performance. Actors who join us for the December Reel Intensive (DRI) will receive a polished scene that they can be proud of. DRI is also a great way to assess where you are in your acting and prepare for a real, professional shoot.

Once you sign up:
-
We will assess what your needs are for the reel. What genre do you want to do, what is your type? What do you want to “sell” about yourself?
-
You will be paired with a partner (of a similar training level and experience)**
-
You will be assigned a scene appropriate for your goals and level.
-
Over 4 sessions, Monday - Thursday, students will be immersed in a professional rehearsal experience where they are expected to prepare their scene, receive acting coaching, direction and blocking and come in the next day ready to go deeper. As always, we emphasize the quality of the performance in a reel, as that is the most important factor, so with the coaching of Philip, students will craft and polish a performance.
-
On the final day, Saturday, we will film the scenes! We transform every nook and cranny of the studio into a film set that suits your storyline. Each scene is allotted 60 minutes (or more depending) to film their scenes.
-
Within a month, you will receive a polished product.
Custom Written Scene Add-On: Finding the right scene is extremely important, so if you would like to have a scene custom written to suit your aims and needs for the reel, this is the best option for you. Our in-house script writer is certain to get a great script written just for you.
COVID PROCEDURES FOR IN-PERSON CLASS PARTICIPANTS
Student safety is our priority, and we want to ensure a safe place for students to come and learn. We will continue to enforce a vaccination requirement for all ADULT students. We will be requiring proof of vaccination to be shown on the first day of class. Please note that medical and religious exemptions will be considered with a written note. See below for details on the vaccination protocol.
As of September 1st, 2022, our masking policy is NO LONGER in effect. Students now have the choice whether they would like to attend class without wearing a mask, or if they would like to continue wearing one due to personal choice.
These policies will apply until further notice. We will keep you updated on any future policy changes.
How it will work:
On the first day of class, students will be asked to show their vaccination card to the instructor, along with a proof of identification matching the name on the vaccination card. Completion of the vaccination series (1 dose for Johnson & Johnson, or 2 doses for Moderna/Pfizer) is highly encouraged before beginning any of our classes. To encourage vaccination, we will accept just the first dose, as long as the student plans to complete the remaining vaccination dose(s). A booster dose is not required, but also encouraged.
For those with medical and religious exemptions to the vaccination, you will need to provide a weekly negative Covid PCR test taken 1-2 days before your class. Please bring your negative Covid results with you to class each week to show the instructor as you arrive.
PLEASE NOTE: This updated vaccination requirement is only applicable to our ADULT classes. For our students in our Teen or Kids Acting classes, we will not require proof of vaccination, but do still encourage vaccination when applicable. For Kids and Teens classes, teachers will have the option to determine for their own classrooms whether or not they will allow masks to come off during scenework. Students should expect to stay masked for the entirety of class unless their teacher adjusts the policy for their classroom. Classes that are designated to take place online also do not have the vaccine requirement.
In the case that you become ill or are tested positive for COVID, we would also like to remind you that every class has a Zoom option where you can attend virtually for the day. Please do not hesitate to use that option if you feel that you are sick, if you believe you have been exposed to COVID, or are currently in isolation.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
