This course is half acting and half film technique and production. In the first four sessions, students learn important acting tools based in Seven Pillars Acting, and in the last four sessions they apply those tools to a scene that they will film in the studio! Students attending will get an introduction into the craft of an actor and practical know-how on acting for the camera. When students add the Editing Package, they add a polished scene to their acting reel. Note: In order to receive the footage that is shot in this course, one of our film packages must be additionally purchased (either the Editing package or Raw Footage add-on).

On the first day of class, students are asked to show their complete vaccination card to the instructor. As long as the 2nd shot was at least 2 weeks prior, the student will be considered vaccinated.

This course counts toward advancing the studio's levels. Students who take 2 of these classes, as well as the Beginning Acting Living Truthfully and Reality of Doing classes are eligible to audition for Intermediate.

Seven Pillars Acting by Sonya Cooke is required of all students taking this course. Purchase the book online.

If you want to do this course and more, opt for one of our Membership Plans to lock in the best value for your training. The more you train, the better you will act.

COVID PROCEDURES FOR IN-PERSON CLASS PARTICIPANTS
Due to the recent surge in COVID cases due to the newest variant of Omicron, we have updated our COVID-19 studio policy.

Student safety is our priority, and we want to ensure a safe place for students to come and learn. As of December 28th, 2021, we will be enforcing a vaccination requirement for all students. Due to the recent surge in cases due to the new Omicron variant, we will be requiring proof of vaccination to be shown on the first day of class. Please note that medical and religious exemptions will be considered with a written note. See below for details on the vaccination protocol. Our required mask mandate will continue to be implemented for all classes. These policies will apply until further notice. We will keep you updated on any future policy changes.

How it will work:
On the first day of class, students will be asked to show their vaccination card to the instructor, along with a proof of identification matching the name on the vaccination card. Completion of the vaccination series (1 dose for Johnson & Johnson, or 2 doses for Moderna/Pfizer) is highly encouraged before beginning any of our classes. To encourage vaccination, we will accept just the first dose, as long as the student plans to complete the remaining vaccination dose(s). A booster dose is not required, but also encouraged.

For those with medical and religious exemptions to the vaccination, you will need to provide a weekly negative Covid PCR test taken 1-2 days before your class. Please bring your negative Covid results with you to class each week to show the instructor as you arrive.

PLEASE NOTE: This updated vaccination requirement is only applicable to our ADULT classes. For our students in our Teen or Kids Acting classes, we will not require proof of vaccination, but do still encourage vaccination when applicable. Teen and Kids classes will continue to require mask wearing.

For any film shoots at the studio, all students will be required to additionally submit a negative Covid PCR test 1-2 days before filming unmasked (no over the counter tests will be accepted). We will still be enforcing social distancing during these shoots. Film shoots will be closed, which means only actors performing and the teacher and filming assistant will be in the studio at a time, so that those acting can be unmasked. Students unable to adhere to these requirements will have to film their scenes masked.

In the case that you become ill or are tested positive for COVID, we would also like to remind you that every class has a coordinating Zoom option where you can attend virtually for the day. Please do not hesitate to use that option if you feel that you are sick, if you believe you have been exposed to COVID, or are currently in isolation.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
COVID 19 NOTE:
Given the unpredictable nature of the pandemic, the studio may need to make decisions about the safety of its students by moving an in-person class online. Students registering for classes acknowledge this possibility and agree to transfer the class if/when the studio makes that determination. Students may not receive a refund or a transfer of credits in such an event.
HYBRID CLASSROOMS:
All In-person classes will function in a hybrid manner, which means that at any point a student can opt to join the classroom remotely. This will change and limit the way the student will participate in the classroom, but students will still get to learn and work in the class. Every in-person class will have a Zoom link assigned to it, so should a student need to miss meeting in-person, they can log in remotely and join the class. In the physical classroom, there will be a large screen where remote classmates will be viewable to the group. The teacher, using a laptop on a moving lecturn, will ensure remote participants can clearly hear and see their classmates during class.
PAYMENT DISCLOSURE
As always, there are no returns or transfers. Tuition reserves your spot in class; all classes fill up, so this is the only way to confirm your spot. Tuition is non-refundable nor transferrable, as class is a commitment to yourself, your scene partner, your instructor and the collective.
PAYMENT INSTALLATION POLICY
If an installment is purchased, a Recurring Authorization Payment Form will be part of the in person paperwork we will need completed. If you sign up over the phone, the form will be sent to you. Complete the form and turn it in before class starts. Without the form, you will not be officially registered in the class and will not be allowed to start your training until you have done so. A $1 charge will be made in order to ensure method of payment is valid. The value will be returned back to the card after the payment goes through. The last payment will be deducted October 31st.
By opting for Installment Plans, you are making a commitment to pay them as scheduled regardless of absences or attrition; it is a legally binding contract. If such a commitment cannot be made, we recommend paying for the course in full or not enrolling.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
All health related absences will be excused, with or without a doctors note. Our nonrefundable tuition policy will stand; however, if you are unable to complete the course due to illness, we are willing to transfer tuition to another class in the following semester. If you are concerned about attending class in person, we will offer online attendance (via video call.) *This attendance policy is temporary, going into effect as of Winter 2020 semester. This policy is subject to change.
MAKE-UP CLASS POLICY
Excused absences may be made up by attending another similar class within 3 months of the absence. No other make-up arrangements or discounts will be offered.
