It has been said that all actors worth their salt know how to handle classical text. This course gives our Advanced actors the skills and street cred necessary to be a professional and competitive actor. This is the first of three courses for the Advanced level at the studio. In this course, actors focus on Shakespeare in order to strengthen their skills in imagery, speech, action, and rhetoric.
To audition for the Advanced level, students must have completed at least 3 semesters of Intermediate as well as Improv, Audition Technique, Film Technique, and Voice and Speech. To audition, submit two contrasting contemporary monologues by self-tape by December 1st to philiporazioteacher@gmail.com. Contact Philip Orazio to learn more about the audition process.
Seven Pillars Acting by Sonya Cooke is required of all students taking this course. Purchase the book online.
If you want to do this course and more, opt for one of our Membership Plans to lock in the best value for your training. The more you train, the better you will act.
COVID PROCEDURES FOR IN-PERSON CLASS PARTICIPANTS
Student safety is our priority, and we want to ensure a safe place for students to come and learn. We will continue to enforce a vaccination requirement for all ADULT students. We will be requiring proof of vaccination to be shown on the first day of class. Please note that medical and religious exemptions will be considered with a written note. See below for details on the vaccination protocol.
As of September 1st, 2022, our masking policy is NO LONGER in effect. Students now have the choice whether they would like to attend class without wearing a mask, or if they would like to continue wearing one due to personal choice.
These policies will apply until further notice. We will keep you updated on any future policy changes.
How it will work:
On the first day of class, students will be asked to show their vaccination card to the instructor, along with a proof of identification matching the name on the vaccination card. Completion of the vaccination series (1 dose for Johnson & Johnson, or 2 doses for Moderna/Pfizer) is highly encouraged before beginning any of our classes. To encourage vaccination, we will accept just the first dose, as long as the student plans to complete the remaining vaccination dose(s). A booster dose is not required, but also encouraged.
For those with medical and religious exemptions to the vaccination, you will need to provide a weekly negative Covid PCR test taken 1-2 days before your class. Please bring your negative Covid results with you to class each week to show the instructor as you arrive.
PLEASE NOTE: This updated vaccination requirement is only applicable to our ADULT classes. For our students in our Teen or Kids Acting classes, we will not require proof of vaccination, but do still encourage vaccination when applicable. For Kids and Teens classes, teachers will have the option to determine for their own classrooms whether or not they will allow masks to come off during scenework. Students should expect to stay masked for the entirety of class unless their teacher adjusts the policy for their classroom. Classes that are designated to take place online also do not have the vaccine requirement.
In the case that you become ill or are tested positive for COVID, we would also like to remind you that every class has a Zoom option where you can attend virtually for the day. Please do not hesitate to use that option if you feel that you are sick, if you believe you have been exposed to COVID, or are currently in isolation.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
